Robert C. McDermond

Robert McDermondRobert Clinton McDermond, class of 1931, gifted one million dollars to DePauw University to endow the Center of Management and Entrepreneurship in 1983. Originally from Hope, Indiana, McDermond majored in mathematics and spanish at DePauw, was a Rector Scholar, and member of Sigma Chi and Alpha Delta Sigma. After graduating, he was appointed as an officer to a Civilian Conservation Corps camp. He then went on to have a long and successful career in the insurance and electronics industries. McDermond, and several associates, founded the College Life Insurance Company in 1946. He later served as president and chairman of EMP Electronics in Phoenix and was a member of the Peoples Bank board of directors.
