What we know about the history of the United Methodist Church in Indiana comes from the written records of the past, saved in the DePauw University Archives and Special Collections. Future historians will learn of the institution through records which the Archives collects and preserves today. Frequently, valuable records are lost or destroyed by accident or natural disasters such as fires or floods. The DePauw University Archives and Special Collections provides a secure and climate-controlled environment for preservation of these historical records.
We also serve local church and district offices by relieving staff of inactive files and by providing a central source of information about people, events and buildings of the Church.
