Getting immersed in the news

To get ideas for topics, you'll want to just start immersing yourself in the media world. You can do this by reading/watching/listening to a lot of news from a variety of sources, and doing so with an active mind - note questions you have about coverage, disparities you see, interesting ways of presenting information, etc. 

You can also read ABOUT the media. Here are some sites that focus on the media as their content.
