This guide is for the Spring 2024 section of the course.

Assignment information

Assignment Information

  • Pursue a class topic (international student experience and identity) further to apply what they have learned to new areas (for example, bias in other fields of study, in other languages (even coding language); language policy in education; comparative teaching methods (cross-culturally or in different fields such as STEM); intercultural communication in the classroom (different levels or cultures).
  • Find 8-10 possible sources and explain why they might be useful - what they cover and/or reveal or argue about the issue (pre-reading, skimming and scanning articles and abstracts and keywords to glean this information).
  • Organize and discuss at least 4-5 of these sources around the issues or topics related to their research question (what are scholars researching about  X? ), practice their reading, summary, and organizational skills, rather than just an alphabetized summary of each (what I see as an annotated bibliography).
