There are many types of curriculum maps, at various levels of scope and detail. The sample map on the right identifies a high level of detail in student outcomes across the rows, grouped into larger categories of learning goals. The columns identify each course required for the major, and indicates whether each course introduces, reinforces, or emphasizes each student outcome. A map can be made for an entire degree or institution, or focus on a particular competency (like the Writing Program), and it can identify particular performance indicators or trace broad learning goals.
