Presented by: Tiffany Anderson Hebb and Kathryn Millis
November 2, 2004 will be the first
presidential election that most college & university students can participate
in. Most are unsure of what they need to do and know before they can vote, and
most don’t vote. (In 2000, less than 1/3 of 18 to 22 year olds voted.)
Librarians, especially those of us at colleges, universities, & high schools,
can play an important role in the democratic process by providing our patrons
with information about voting procedures, candidates, parties, and platforms;
and the importance of voting. This poster features ways that DePauw University
librarians are helping our students learn about the candidates and issues, and
also how to register, and when and where to vote.
The information (including content and links) in this guide will not likely be updated after the time of the presentation. Please contact the presenter(s) with any questions.
Our original guide is no longer available, but our 2008 Election LibGuide is still online at http://libguides.depauw.edu/election2008. It contains links to partisan and non-partisan candidate and election sites, voter registration forms, and information about voting by absentee ballot.
