About Tim Wise & his talk

Tim Wise will be speaking on "Race, Power and Pride," on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 7 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium in the Green Center for the Performing Arts.

He will discuss privilege and ways through which we can all foster effective change in our lives and communities.

Tim Wise has spoken in 48 states, and on over 500 college campuses and communities in the United States. Mr. Wise has a B.A. in Political Science and Minor in Latin-American Studies from Tulane University,  He is the author of White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son, Affirmative Action: Racial Preference in Black and White, and Speaking Treason Fluently: Anti-Racist Reflections From an Angry White Male. His current book is entitled Between Barack and a Hard Place: Racism and White Denial in the Age of Obama.

Mr. Wise has provided anti-racism training to teachers nationwide, and provided training to physicians and medical industry professionals on how to combat racial inequities in health care. Mr. Wise has also provided training for corporate, government, entertainment, military and law enforcement officials on methods for dismantling racism in their institutions. He has appeared on many radio and television shows including CNN and MSNBC Live.
