Funded by a GLCA grant and organized by faculty members at DePauw and Earlham, the workshop represents the second phase of a larger project to integrate campus farms into liberal arts education. The workshop will demonstrate the different ways other institutions have made use of campus farms as focal points for sustainability studies, and will invite participants to develop specific components for their courses, including readings, writing assignments, collaborative projects, modules, and syllabi. We will discuss the ways that campus farms help us to articulate questions of the local and the global, as a lens for studying ecological and economic systems, and as a place for mediating reciprocal learning between campuses and local communities.
