Scifinder is a database that offers strong literature searching capabilities; it also offers Structure searching and Reaction searching.
Each individual user has to register to use SciFinder and log in every time, using a user name and password. Be sure to use your DePauw email address when you register.

SciFinder-n is the most comprehensive database for the chemical literature, searchable by topic, author, substances by name or CAS Registry Number, OR use the editor to draw chemical structures, substructures, or reactions. SciFinder-n is the new version of SciFinder.
If you already have a SciFinder account, you will be able to log in to SciFinder-n via the new platform and do not need to set up a new account. SciFinder, a key database for chemistry researchers, can be challenging to use. Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) has several short (> 5 min) tutorials through their website that you may find helpful.
