Putnam County Public Library

The Putnam County Public Library, just north of Marvin's, offers children's & teen's materials that our libraries don't have.  Search their catalog.  Visit their website.

Take your DePauw ID or other proof that you live or work in Putnam County (or your Indiana PLAC card).

Indianapolis Marion County Public Library

The Indianapolis Marion County Public Library serves a much larger community so has a larger collection; to borrow materials there, get a PLAC card from the Putnam County Public Library (it's about $30, & lets you borrow from almost any public library in Indiana for a year).

Their catalog lists material in branchs around the county.

Coretta Scott King Awards

Given since 1970 to African American authors and illustrators for outstanding inspirational & educational contributions, the Coretta Scott King Award titles promote understanding and appreciation, and honor and continue the work of Dr. and Mrs. King.

John Steptoe Award for New Talent

Awarded since 1995 by the Coretta Scott King Awards, to new authors and illustrators.


Black Caucus of the American Library Association

Teens may wish to read books for adult readers, including the winners of the Black Caucus of the American Library Association annual awards for fiction & non-fiction written by African Americans, recognizing "outstanding achievement in the presentation of the cultural, historical and sociopolitical aspects of the Black Diaspora."
