  • Stonewall Book Awards
    Sponsored by the American Library Association's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered Round Table since 1971, awards for literature & non-fiction, and about 10 honor books (finalists) each year.
  • Lambda Literary Awards
    Winners & finalists in 21 categories including biography, debut, drama, erotica, mystery, poetry, romance, science fiction, LGBT studies, etc. Given since 1988.
  • Young adult novels with LGBTQ characters
    Recommendations from librarians who specialize in young adults. Categories include historic fiction, romance, graphic novels, SF, etc.

This guide suggests a few resources that I think might be most helpful for researching lgbt topics, but it's nowhere near comprehensive. I didn't, for instance link to biographies of or autobiographies about/by lgbt people, to a wide array of literature & friction, to coverage in almost any discipline (you can easily imagine glbt topics in psychology, sociology, biology, law, ...).  I don't want to list 80+ databases that include but don't really focus on queer peoples & topics!

So, contact me or any librarian if you would like help looking for info in the sources I've listed here, or in others that are equally helpful for other topics & aspects. Please.

Finding Books

Books in our libraries are shelved by the LC classification system. In the main Roy O West library, books with call numbers starting with the letters A-D are located on the second floor of the library, while books with call numbers starting with the letters E-Z are located on the third floor of the library.
